2023-10-27 | CCHS BPA Update | CBA Finals Competition Canceled
2023-10-27 | CCHS BPA Update | CBA Finals Competition Canceled
Hello Band Families,
The CBA has just announced they are canceling the finals performances for tomorrow (the semifinal performances are scheduled as usual). The Cherry Creek Marching Band will follow the schedule previously announced but will depart the competition after the semifinal awards and will have dinner at CCHS tomorrow evening.
From the CBA: CBA Band fans, we have an important announcement to share at this time. After careful consideration, it has been determined that for the welfare and safety of our young performers and everyone associated with our activity, the Finals Competition for Saturday has been canceled. The Semi Finals schedule will remain the same with the first band performing at 8:30. This competition will be treated as a Semi-Finals and Finals Competition with awards being given and ultimately naming a 2023 Champion in each class. The Colorado Bandmasters Association appreciates your understanding and support of this challenging decision.
Bands performing tomorrow need to understand this. If you are supporting the band in the warm-up area or prop area AND driving a personal vehicle, you should park in Lot 5A. This will leave you just across the street from the bands by crossing the street, If you park in the Lot 1 spectator parking, you will be expected to walk from south of the stadium over the hill behind the press box and back down the hill to the bands (LONG walk). After helping the bands you may enter the stadium with your ticket through Gate 4 just behind the color guard warm-up. There are two gates to enter the stadium, one on both ends of the stadium. AT NO TIME ARE PEOPLE ALLOWED TO CROSS FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE STADIUM WHERE CONSTRUCTION IS TAKING PLACE.

2023-10-27 | CCHS BPA Update | Important Parking Info for States
Hello Band Families,
We have some important info about parking tomorrow, if you are helping with pit and props or plan to enter the pit/prop area.
IF YOU HAVE PARENTS DRIVING PRIVATE CARS WHO HELP YOU IN THE WARM-UP/PROP AREA DO NOT PARK IN THE SPECTATOR LOT 1. There is no way to get from the South Side to the Band area without a ticket. These parents need to park in lot 5A directly across the street from the bus parking. Also: They are not allowing clear plastic water bottles through the gates.
Lots 1 and 5 are marked on the map below. If you are helping with pit/props then you follow the Bus and Equipment Entrance route (onto Academy Drive) but instead of turning left into the parking area for Lot 5, you will go right and be able to park in the field across from the bus parking.

Portable Propane Heaters - Needed for States
The temperature is dropping later this week and the band is seeking some portable propane heaters for the competition. If you have a portable heater and propane for loan the band would be most appreciative! Ideally, you drop your heater and propane at the Creek Food area near Falcon Stadium on competition day (look for Creek flags). If that is not possible, please reach out to BPA President Jessica Carmer jcarmer4475@gmail.com for alternative arrangements.

Key Points for Festival - From the Legacy Marching Band Boosters
Here are some key points for your members:
Advance purchase tickets are available online via GoFan at: https://gofan.co/event/708084?schoolId=CO68954_1 Advance purchase will allow you to bypass the ticket window as there will be a separate table to redeem your on-line purchase for an admission wristband. Advance purchased tickets are non-refundable.
There are numerous parking lots for the equipment trucks and buses. Your band has been assigned to specific lots on the east side of Washington Street, close to the stadium. Those assignments for buses and trucks are on the website and have been conveyed to your Director.
All spectator parking is on the WEST side of Washington Street. Signs will direct you to the numerous parking lots. Note the GoogleMaps directions will take you to the back (east) side of the stadium off 95th street, THIS IS NOT CORRECT and you will be forced to turn around and to back down Washington to the spectator lots. I apologize for this mis-information but we've been unable to get it corrected so far. Refer to the Overview Map on the website for spectator parking locations.
Note some of these lots are some distance away from the stadium and ALL will require you to take the overpass over busy Washington Street, so please tell your parents to allow 30-45 minutes to get from parking to being seated in the stadium. We don't want them to miss their student's performance.
As in the past we will have spiritwear available for sale, including Festival t-shirts, "fun" t-shirts and Festival patches. Details are on the website.
We will also have concessions available. The menu is on the website. NOTE Concessions will be accepting CASH ONLY, and there is NO ATM onsite, although there are ATM's up at Thornton Parkway and Washington, but that's ½ mile away! Please tell your students to bring cash if they plan to visit our concession booth.
As in the past, there will be a designated Food Lot (Lot E, which is off 95th street). Refer to the Overview Map. Due to the limited space that must be shared by all bands, we ask your adherence to the following:
ONLY 2 vehicles per band will be allowed into the Food Lot, there is not room otherwise. If a vehicle needs to drop off supplies, they will be required to leave and park elsewhere after drop-off.
Only vehicles will be allowed on asphalt surfaces. All canopies, tarps, and food lines must be set on on grass areas around Thornton Middle School. If the ground is wet, please plan to bring tarps for your students to sit on.
Trash receptacles will be provided but we ask you be as trash-conscious as possible.
Food trucks will NOT be allowed into the bus or equipment truck lots, as we have similar space constraints in those lots.
This is a CBA Sanctioned Event, as such each band will be limited to 25 non-staff, non-students onto the stadium field. Anyone accompanying the band onto the field (pushing pit, chaperones, etc) is required to be wearing a Field Pass wristband. These wristbands are provided to your Director and are specific to Prelims or Finals. Per CBA rules, you will not be allowed into the stadium field without a Field Pass wristband. Anyone entering the field to assist the band must remain on the field-level benches. Entry into the stands is not allowed.
We will again provide a water table as the students move from Body Warmup to Music Warmup. However we will be limiting the water to one cup per student. We cannot be refilling water bottles as we are not equipped to do that and it impacts the overall flow of the students. Primary responsibility for watering your students is your band's and chaperones' responsibilities. Please plan accordingly, especially if weather is warm.
Likewise, please plan accordingly for your water needs. If you do need to refill a water jug, there is a spigot on the south side of the pressbox at the top of the stadium stairs. Bands will NOT be allowed to enter the Concessions stand to refill water jugs, nor are bands to use the ice in our Concessions booth, as this impedes our Concessions workers and their ability to serve their customers.
This year there will be a 1st aid station for light first aid needs. It will be located directly south of te Concessions and restrooms. It will be staffed by CTE students with basic 1st aid knowledge. If anything more serious occurs, please call 911 , then find the closest Legacy volunteer with a radio to let me know of the situation and location.
There will be numerous Legacy volunteers around the venue who will gladly assist you with directions or other questions. Look for them in blue Legacy shirts with Legacy Band lanyards.

Wine Bottle Grab - Donations Needed
Thinking about trying a new wine, but too nervous you’ll get a dud? Now there is an easy way, and it helps the Cherry Creek Bands Program via an auction donation.
It’s a Wine Win Win!!! And it's easy!!
Donate a bottle of your favorite wine, be sure to include a note about why it’s special to you
We will even add several cellar-worthy bottles
At the auction, bid on a mystery wine bag. If you are the winning bidder, take it home and enjoy!!!
If you are interested in donating to the CCHS Band Auction, please contact Mélisande Holohan, CCHS Band Auction Committee Member by email: mholohan@gmail.com.
Happenings - Donations Needed
Happenings are back by popular demand! How do you get started?
Pick A Theme Or Idea
Decide When And Where To Host The Party
Figure Out The Details
Decide How Many People You Can Host
Decide How Much Is An Appropriate Charge
Donate Your Happening With A Description Of The Event To The Auction
How do people buy a happening? At the auction people buy a "ticket" to attend the event for the price you set until tickets sell out at the number of people you set.
Then what? Host the event and have a great time! Meet new people and enjoy the event! The band benefits from the proceeds made from the tickets sold for your happening. For example, if you have a happening for 10 people and tickets sold for $20 each then you had a great time and made $200 for the band!
What are some ideas that have been successful in the past?
Pizza And Jam Session For Band Members
Host A Watch Party For Avalanche/Broncos/Nuggets (Watch The Game On TV)
Dinner Party
Wine And Cheese Party
Game Night And S’mores
Dart Warz Party
Mexican Fiesta And Margarita Night
The ideas are endless! Be bold and create a happening.

Performance T-Shirts/Spirit Wear - Issue with the Iron On Text
Some of the performance t-shirt's texts are bubbling at the bottom of the t-shirt. If your student's t-shirt has this issue, you can send it to Doug Heacox for repair or you can try to remedy this issue yourself. To fix this issue yourself, you can place parchment paper over the problem text area and use an iron over the parchment paper to smooth it out. Applying some pressure is also needed. DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY TOUCH INK WITH HOT IRON. Slowly peel back the parchment paper after ironing. Doug will be at practice on Wednesday afternoon (August 28th) to fix any shirts that need repair, so have your student bring their shirt in if you don't want to fix it yourself. Please email your questions to dheacox11@msn.com. The bubbling will not be an issue with the items purchased through the Online Sales. Spirit Wear items purchased during the online sale should be available mid-September and will be delivered to students during the school day in the band room.
Football Game versus Legacy Lightning - THURSDAY August 31, 2023
This is a Thursday night game and is the new Spirit Night (canceled last week due to the rain). Call time for the game will be 5:00 pm. Students will need to plan accordingly for dinner, as it is not provided for Football Games. As this is CCHS Spirit Night, the Band, Cheers, and Poms will perform at 6:25 pm before the 7 pm game in the pool courtyard.
We suggest everyone buys their tickets for the football game online at the link below to save time as lines can be long.
https://gofan.co/app/events/655496?schoolId=CO27269

Spirit Wear Store is OPEN - Closes on Sunday, August 20, 2023
The Spirit Wear Store is open and the band receives a portion of the proceeds. This is a great way to support the band and parents have the opportunity to go online and order additional marching band and Cherry Creek apparel. It is suggested that you order a second or backup marching band short sleeve t-shirt for their student(s) since they must wear this underneath their uniform. The second shirt can be the tie-dye option. After the store closes, items will be delivered to your student in approximately 4 weeks in the band room during school.
The Online Marching Band Spirit Wear Store is open from August 9th through August 20th and the link to order additional apparel is https://chaganpromos.com/shop/. Questions about spirit wear can be directed to Doug Heacox at dheacox11@msn.com.
