2023-10-27 | CCHS BPA Update | CBA Finals Competition Canceled

2023-10-27 | CCHS BPA Update | CBA Finals Competition Canceled

Hello Band Families,

The CBA has just announced they are canceling the finals performances for tomorrow (the semifinal performances are scheduled as usual). The Cherry Creek Marching Band will follow the schedule previously announced but will depart the competition after the semifinal awards and will have dinner at CCHS tomorrow evening.

From the CBA: CBA Band fans, we have an important announcement to share at this time.  After careful consideration, it has been determined that for the welfare and safety of our young performers and everyone associated with our activity, the Finals Competition for Saturday has been canceled.  The Semi Finals schedule will remain the same with the first band performing at 8:30. This competition will be treated as a Semi-Finals and Finals Competition with awards being given and ultimately naming a 2023 Champion in each class.  The Colorado Bandmasters Association appreciates your understanding and support of this challenging decision.

Bands performing tomorrow need to understand this.  If you are supporting the band in the warm-up area or prop area AND driving a personal vehicle, you should park in Lot 5A.  This will leave you just across the street from the bands by crossing the street,  If you park in the Lot 1 spectator parking, you will be expected to walk from south of the stadium over the hill behind the press box and back down the hill to the bands (LONG walk).  After helping the bands you may enter the stadium with your ticket through Gate 4 just behind the color guard warm-up.  There are two gates to enter the stadium, one on both ends of the stadium.  AT NO TIME ARE PEOPLE ALLOWED TO CROSS FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE STADIUM WHERE CONSTRUCTION IS TAKING PLACE.

2023-10-27 | CCHS BPA Update | Important Parking Info for States

2023-10-27 | CCHS BPA Update | Important Parking Info for States

Hello Band Families,

We have some important info about parking tomorrow, if you are helping with pit and props or plan to enter the pit/prop area.

IF YOU HAVE PARENTS DRIVING PRIVATE CARS WHO HELP YOU IN THE WARM-UP/PROP AREA DO NOT PARK IN THE SPECTATOR LOT 1.  There is no way to get from the South Side to the Band area without a ticket. These parents need to park in lot 5A directly across the street from the bus parking.  Also:  They are not allowing clear plastic water bottles through the gates.

Lots 1 and 5 are marked on the map below. If you are helping with pit/props then you follow the Bus and Equipment Entrance route (onto Academy Drive) but instead of turning left into the parking area for Lot 5, you will go right and be able to park in the field across from the bus parking.

2023-10-26 | CCHS BPA Update | 5A State Marching Band Competition

Hello Band Families,

Here is what’s inside today’s update:

Weather for Saturday & Band Bags - Be Prepared

The weather at the USAFA for Saturday is predicted to be a high of 41 degrees and a low of 16 degrees. Please make sure your band member is prepared, and dresses in layers with long underwear if possible. Extra blankets or outerwear will be helpful in between performances. Also, make sure your band member knows to advocate for themselves if they get cold or need help otherwise. Parent volunteers will be there to help! The BPA will have a bag on hand with the following items if students need: Sewing kits, Mini medicine case, Feminine hygiene zip lock bags (2 regular tampons, pads, hair ties, hand sanitizer) Gloves (limited), Hand warmers, Toe warmers, Eyeglass wipes and cleaning cloths.

Changes to USAFA Stadium Rules - Be Prepared

The USAFA has a clear bag policy. In particular, drink containers such as YETI, Nalgene, etc. will not be allowed in.  Unopened clear plastic water bottles are allowed.  You can review the rest of the policy here: http://cbamarching.com/images/AF_Clear_Bag_Policy.pdf

The stadium is also cashless and we are encouraged to buy tickets in advance. Link is below.

Note: The clear bag policy does not apply to the gear and equipment bags that the band takes onto the field. They will bring their gear and needed items as usual.

Volunteer Opportunities - Football Games

For each football game we need parent volunteers to help with (1) Pit Crew, (2) Plumes, (3) Band Seat Covers,  (4) Water Committee and (5) Selling Gear. All volunteers will get a pass to enter the game for free. Any questions? Ask Julia Miller at juliakornmiller@yahoo.com.

Band Seat Covers: Volunteers help reserve space for the  band to sit and vinyl seat covers are placed on the bleachers. Joel and Erin Palmer are organizing parents to help with this important task. Volunteers will meet 30 minutes before the game to place the seat covers and help with removing the covers at the end of the game. Sign up to support one or multiple games.

Pit Crew: Help move the pit equipment and ancillaries to support the Band’s halftime show! Parents meet at the pit truck on the southwest end of the field ~30 minutes before the game.  Signup to support one or multiple games.

Plumes: Parents are needed to help distribute plumes before half time and collect plumes after half time. Signup to support one or multiple games.

Water Committee: Volunteers provide water to the band following the half-time performance since the kids need to remain together and in uniform throughout the game. Jen and Jim Gallo are organizing volunteers for this parent crew. This committee meets 45 minutes before the start of the game to fill coolers with water and ice and then bring the coolers to the stadium. You will also help distribute water following half time performance. Email Jen Gallo at  jenflwrcsu@aol.com to help with this committee.

NEW Selling Gear: Come early to the home football games (and to Back to School Night) and help sell Creek gear; shirts, shorts, jackets and the football program. The band will get 30% back on everything we sell so grab a friend and come early to the home games. You will be finished in time to watch your student perform on the field! Thank you! Any questions, reach out to Emily Rissmiller at  emilyrissmiller00@gmail.com or 214.783.9819.

Volunteer Opportunities - Competitions

We also need your help for competitions. If you help with Pit and Props you will get a wristband that will let you see Creek perform for free! Any questions? Ask Julia Miller at juliakornmiller@yahoo.com.

Sign up here:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0445adaf2ba46-cherry1#/ and see descriptions of positions below.

Pit Crew: Help the pit bring their instruments and sound equipment to practice areas and onto the field for performances. Also help Color Guard bring out the props. Handy people with tools are a PLUS but not necessary. This opportunity is broken up into two time slots (prelims and final performances).

Plumes: Help hand out the big feathers that go on the students' Shako hats.  Hand them out before the performance and collect afterwards. This opportunity is broken up into two time slots (prelims and final performances).

U-Haul Driver: We need an extra truck this year to help carry props and we will be renting a U-Haul truck. This volunteer must be 21 years of age and bring a driver’s license to the rental location. The volunteer will drive truck from rental location, to school for loading, to the competition site, and then back to school.

2023-09-01 | CCHS BPA Update | Band Auction - Donations Needed

Hello Band Families,

The band auction is fast approaching (October 10th) and your help is needed with donations! Read on to learn about

You can also see the webpage for all things auction:

https://www.cherrycreekbpa.org/fundraising/band-auction-concert

Auction Donations - Items Needed!

Auction donations are needed! No item is too small or too big. Not sure what to donate? Everyone can contribute something and here are some ideas.

Have a business?  Donate a product or service your business provides and have your name/business seen by over 500 people on our website.

Don’t own a business? No worries! Donate something you love.

Don’t own a hobby? No worries! Donate something you would enjoy!

If you are interested in donating or helping out on this year’s CCHS Band Auction, please contact Vien Perez, CCHS Band Auction Chairperson. Call/text:  303.901.5444 or email:  2023cchsbpaauction@gmail.com.

Wine Bottle Grab - Donations Needed

Thinking about trying a new wine, but too nervous you’ll get a dud? Now there is an easy way, and it helps the Cherry Creek Bands Program via an auction donation.

It’s a Wine Win Win!!!  And it's easy!!

If you are interested in donating to the CCHS Band Auction, please contact Mélisande Holohan, CCHS Band Auction Committee Member by email:  mholohan@gmail.com.

Happenings - Donations Needed

Happenings are back by popular demand! How do you get started?

How do people buy a happening?  At the auction people buy a "ticket" to attend the event for the price you set until tickets sell out at the number of people you set.

Then what?  Host the event  and have a great time! Meet new people and enjoy the event! The band benefits from the proceeds made from the tickets sold for your happening.  For example, if you have a happening for 10 people and tickets sold for $20 each then you had a great time and made $200 for the band!

What are some ideas that have been successful in the past?

Interested/Questions:  Contact Kimarie Mikleton By Phone/Text 303.907.9577 or email mikleton20@msn.com

Section Baskets - Info for Section Leaders!

The Auction Committee relies on Section leaders to help put their section basket together to gather and provide each section’s “basket” for the auction.

What’s the process?

What are some possible theme ideas? Pick one or pick your own (remember to contact Cara to verify availability)

For any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact Cara Scheerer at clscheerer@gmail.com or 303.949.2530.  ·

2023-08-29 | CCHS BPA Update | Thursday Football, Spirit Night, and Volunteering

Hello Band Families,

Here is what’s inside this week’s update:

Performance T-Shirts/Spirit Wear - Issue with the Iron On Text

Some of the performance t-shirt's texts are bubbling at the bottom of the t-shirt. If your student's t-shirt has this issue, you can send it to Doug Heacox for repair or you can try to remedy this issue yourself. To fix this issue yourself, you can place parchment paper over the problem text area and use an iron over the parchment paper to smooth it out. Applying some pressure is also needed. DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY TOUCH INK WITH HOT IRON. Slowly peel back the parchment paper after ironing. Doug will be at practice on Wednesday afternoon (August 28th) to fix any shirts that need repair, so have your student bring their shirt in if you don't want to fix it yourself. Please email your questions to dheacox11@msn.com. The bubbling will not be an issue with the items purchased through the Online Sales. Spirit Wear items purchased during the online sale should be available mid-September and will be delivered to students during the school day in the band room.

Football Game versus Legacy Lightning - THURSDAY August 31, 2023

This is a Thursday night game and is the new Spirit Night (canceled last week due to the rain). Call time for the game will be 5:00 pm. Students will need to plan accordingly for dinner, as it is not provided for Football Games.  As this is CCHS Spirit Night, the Band, Cheers, and Poms will perform at 6:25 pm before the 7 pm game in the pool courtyard.

We suggest everyone buys their tickets for the football game online at the link below to save time as lines can be long.

2023-08-28 | CCHS BPA Update | Issue with T-Shirts

2023-08-29 | CCHS BPA Update | Issue with T-Shirts

Hello Band Families,

Hello Band Families,

Here is what’s inside this week’s update:

Back to School Night - August 24, 2023

On Thursday, August 24th, Cherry Creek High School Back to School Night, the CCHS Marching band will be providing a delicious dinner option for CCHS staff, parents & students beginning at 5:00PM in the Quad.

Enjoy an on-site grilled hamburger or hot dog (vegetarian option available) with chips & bottled water or soda for $8 if prepaid here on Cheddar Up before 12PM, Wednesday August 23th.

https://2023back-to-school-night-dinner-copy.cheddarup.com

Day of meals can be purchased for $10 cash or check. A la carte items will be available for purchase as well. Please note, change for large bills may be limited.

Extra hands are always welcome to help distribute food at Back to School Night. If you'd rather not walk from east to west and meet the awesome teachers, you are always welcome to help distribute the food or just come on up and say i!

Football Game versus Ralston Valley - August 25, 2023

Call time for the game on Friday will be 5:00 pm. Students will need to plan accordingly for dinner, as it is not provided for Football Games.  As this is CCHS Spirit Night, the Band, Cheers, and Poms will perform at 6:25 pm before the 7 pm game in the pool courtyard.

We suggest everyone buys their tickets for the football game online at the link below to save time as lines can be long.

https://gofan.co/app/events/655496?schoolId=CO27269

We also need your help with volunteering for this game (and future games)! There still are many opportunities available to help out! See the next section to sign up to help with pit, plumes, seat covers, water or selling gear.

Volunteer Opportunities - Baking Committee

Do you love to bake? We need  your support in baking cookies, brownies, bars and treats for the students at Competitions. Sign up for one or all of them. These do NOT need to be homemade. We're also looking for gluten free and nut free options as well. Thank you. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080F49A8AC2AA57-baking.  Have questions? Reach out to Cheryl Kutzer at: ckutzer3@gmail.com or 303.949.5167
